Compression Spring Stock
Keep these extra-long springs on hand so you can cut the right length whenever you need it.
As you squeeze a compression spring, it pushes back to return to its original length. Spring rate is the amount of force required for every inch of compression. The higher the spring rate, the harder it is to compress the spring.
To determine the spring rate of a cut spring, first multiply the spring’s original length by the spring rate given, then divide the result by the cut length (in inches).

Extension Springs with Hook Ends
As you stretch an extension spring, it gets harder to pull. Minimum load is the amount of force required to start to extend the spring. Maximum load is the amount of force required to fully extend the spring. Spring rate is the amount of force required for every inch or mm of extension.

Metric Split Lock Washers
As a screw is tightened, these metric washers flatten to add tension to the joint, counteracting fatigue around the joint from small amounts of vibration. This makes them a common choice to prevent fasteners from loosening. However, they resist the least amount of vibration compared to other locking washers. They meet a DIN or ASME standard for split lock washer dimensions.
Standard split lock washers have a left-hand helix that have right-hand threads to prevent clockwise rotation. They have uneven split ends that bite into fasteners for a tight grip but won’t work with hardened surfaces. They hold better than curved or wave washers. These washers are not reusable after tightening.
Stronger and more durable than stainless steel, steel washers plated with zinc or galvanized withstand varying degrees of corrosion. Galvanized steel washers are 10 times more corrosion resistant than zinc-plated steel washers.

Coil Lock Washers
Keep tension when fastening materials prone to expanding and contracting, such as wood. The coil of these washers prevents nuts and bolts from loosening. They have a hot-dipped galvanized finish for 10 times the corrosion resistance of zinc-plated steel washers.
